Van Hall, President of the Board, was elected to the Board in May 2010. He and his wife, Donna have 4 children that are HSISD graduates, Mandi, McXie, Hayden, and Hunter.  Van is employed by AEP.

Stephen Barnes joined the board in 2025.  Stephen is the City Manager for Linden, Texas.  Stephen is a former teacher, coach and school administrator, having worked at both HSISD and Jefferson ISD.   Stephen and his wife, Ashley, are both Hughes Springs High School graduates.  Ashley is a teacher at Hughes Springs Junior High School.  Their children – Addison and Brody -  both attend HSISD.

DeAnna Putman is a retired educator who worked in various roles in education.  DeAnna is a 1979 graduate of Hughes Springs High School.  Her husband Mike is also a graduate of Hughes Springs High School and is a local businessman.  Their two daughters are Hughes Springs alumni. Amy is a third generation educator and Erin works in Business.  DeAnna and Mike has two grandchildren currently attending Hughes Springs Elementary, Jack and Allison. "It's a Great Day to be alive and a Mustang".

Matt Golden is an HSISD alumnus with a business in Texarkana, the Matthew Golden Law Firm. He and his wife Leah, who works as a staff attorney at the U. S. District Court,  live in Hughes Springs with their children, Noah, Aubrey and Eli, who are student Mustangs in Hughes Springs Schools.
